You may have noticed a lack of posts in the past month because we have been hard at work on our forthcoming book.
I'd like to show some of the book's structure and what will be included. This book aims to provide all the necessary understanding, rituals, and writings needed for full Romanist practice and worship. This will be the one book you can use to keep your faith close and maintain a healthy spiritual practice.
There have been many books about Gentile Religions and Paganism, and I have almost always been disappointed with them. Many are either too academic, lacking in practical knowledge, or lacking a strong structure for worship, preferring the "make your own path" approach. These approaches leave large gaps for serious practitioners and lead to difficulty in developing public practices.
Goals of the book
With our book, we hope to achieve a foundation for worship that answers the following questions.
What rituals should I perform and when?
You can open the book, look to the day and perform the necessary rituals. You will also have a framework for public worship so you may begin worship groups in your local area.
This is more than just a handful of rituals. It will include everything needed for all the rituals throughout the liturgical year, similar to a Roman Missal.
What are Romanist Beliefs and Why?
The Catechism will provide that foundation for what we believe and why.
Despite this orthodoxy, we encourage questions and investigations into the doctrines rather than blind belief.
How do I live piously?
Piety is our duty to the Gods in religion and our daily actions.
We will outline what it means to live in accordance with piety.
We will also include the extant biographies and scriptures of several saints and sages so we can learn from their examples and teachings about how to live a just and pious life.
Outline of the Book
Part I: Book of Ritual
Part I will cover the practical aspects of Romanist worship and faith.
The Calendar
This is essential for forming a liturgical year based on holidays, festivals, and feast days for Romanist Saints.
This has been loosely outlined already, but there will be further instruction on the priority of holidays and liturgical seasons.
The Rites
Rituals for domestic and public rites, both holidays (proper days) and non-holidays (ordinary days).
Prayers
Book of prayers for ritual as well as personal prayer.
This includes prayers before offerings and special holiday prayers.
Liturgies for special occasions
This includes rites and blessings for a variety of situations.
Sacraments
Several sacred events in our lives require ritual.
The Sacraments will be explained, and all rituals provided for domestic and public observance.
Hymnal
We will include as many ancient hymns as possible in the book.
This will also include instruction on singing the hymns in the style of Western plainchant.
There will also be instructions on chanting the epics, such as the Iliad and the Odyssey.
Catechism
This document outlines the Romanist faith.
This will include treatises On the Divine, Social Doctrine, and Piety
These are not meant to be full philosophical works but the necessary practical knowledge and understanding of the faith.
Part II: Holy Writings
Part II will include some of the Romanist Holy Writings. This is still in flux but will contain essential theogonies and myths for worship and ethical teachings from the greatest sages, such as Pythagoras.
The goal of the Holy Writings is not to produce a single book of all writings that are authoritative in Romanism. That would be impossible. There are simply too many writings from the ancient world to fit into a single book. Rather, this section is, again, focused on worship and faith. These writings will function in worship and ritual as well as a basis for ethical and moral teachings. A full list of authoritative texts will also be provided for further study.
It should be stressed that Romanism is not a scriptural religion. No text is infallible or perfect. The Holy Writings point us back toward God but are not the words of God himself. It's essential that we avoid falling into the trap of scriptural idolatry. The Gods are the focus of our worship, not books.
The Coming Golden Age
Gentile religion is at a very exciting time. We are now in the advent of the Second Renaissance and the Second Reformation. The old world is crumbling all around us. We can choose whether to find our rightful place in the divine hierarchy or perish in the sea of narcissism and atheism that surrounds us. This choice rests on all of us who see the truth of our ancient Gods and have put our faith in them.
We can help bring about a new Golden Age, but it starts with each of us and our families. The pious family is the seed of this Golden Age and the vehicle of the renewal of the West. Only by putting our faith in the Highest of Gods can we hope to illuminate this renewal in the depths of our souls.
Thus we pray to King Jove that this book acts as a guide to those in need and the seed of faith that can fill our hearts with the spiritual light of our Holy King and Father.
For the Glory of Jove
P.S. We’ve opened up comments on this post to hear suggestions. Ultimately, this book is to help practitioners, so if there is something you feel would be helpful, please let us know.
This is wonderful. I am very much looking forward to seeing this book.
Is this something that's still being worked on?
Sounds great. Perhaps a timeline of influential people throughout history and a listing of related works being included in the back for continuing education.
