Feast of Jove - November 23rd
Feast of Jove - Last Thursday of November (in America)
On the feast of Jove, the statues of Jove, Juno and Minerva are dressed in fine robes and flowers. A great feast is prepared for family and friends and offered to the Gods.
After the offering the food is mixed back into the dishes and consumed by everyone present. The Gods should be placed on a special altar near the table so that the meal is shared with the Gods.
The exact date of this feast should coincide with the harvest festival or thanksgiving of every nation.
-Excerpt from the Book of Romanism
The feast of Jove was traditionally on the ides of September and November. Today we coincide this Holiday with our national Thanksgiving feasts. Many people travel home for this feast so find a way to incorporate the Gods in your meal. If you can, offer a prayer to the Gods at your family Thanksgiving dinner, that is a great way to show your love and fearless support of the Gods. Bringing a small statue of Jupiter with you and leaving an offering dish for Him is ideal as well.
Some people are still unable to be open about their faith when with their families. Sadly, the stigma around western spiritual practices is still strong in many places. You may also perform a short rite to Jupiter and leave some food for Him at home before departing to your Thanksgiving feast at your family and friend’s homes.
Regardless, do not let King Jupiter go unrecognized on this special day that we honor Him. Below is a short prayer that may be used at your Thanksgiving dinner or for your own personal rite.
Orphic Rhapsody to King Jove
Jove of the flashing bolt was the first to be born and the latest,
Jove is the head and the middle; of Jove were all things created;
Jove is the stay of the earth and the stay of the star-spangled heaven;
Jove is male and female of sex, the bride everlasting;
Jove is the breath of all and the rush of unwearying fire;
Jove is the root of the sea, and the sun and the moon in the heavens;
Jove of the flashing bolt is the king and the ruler of all men,
Hiding them all away, and again to the glad light of heaven
Bringing them back from his heart, acting in wonderous holiness
