December is part of the season of Phanes, the light bringer. We celebrate the creation of the cosmos and the emergence of light from the cosmic egg. This is a time to bring the Golden Age to earth and our daily lives. We should repent of our sins and forgive others for theirs. By coming together in unity we reflect the order of the cosmos and the peace of the Golden Age in our lives.
Twelfth Monthly Hymn, to Saturn
Saturn, ancient ruler, with sickle and scythe,
In realms of time, where destinies writhe.
Father of gods, in shadows cloaked,
Austerity and wisdom, in silence evoked.
In the dance of rings, thy majestic sway,
Chronos, eternal, in night and day.
Saturn, harbinger of cycles and change,
In thy cosmic symphony, we rearrange.
Blessed god of harvest, in golden sheaves,
In abundance, our gratitude weaves.
Saturn, stern and just, thy gaze divine,
In the cosmic order, thy virtues shine.

Ascesis: The Handbook of Platonic Practice
The Western world desperately needs to develop its own spiritual practices. Westerners often seek out Eastern paths without realizing the rich spiritual traditions and practices hidden in our ancient past. Ascesis revives these ancient practices and offers a pathway for continuing to develop a science of the soul based on platonic principles.
