Daily Prayer IX
Ceaseless gratitude to thee, O blessed gods divine,
For the bounties bestowed, and those in future twine.
Jove, the fount of highest blessings, we extol,
In thankfulness, let our grateful voices roll.
-
May the welfare of my kind not escape my sight,
In my capacity, strive for the common light.
Aid willingly for the greater good we share,
Knowing that such endeavors make my fortune fair.
-
Let not my actions be the source of woe,
But, to the best of my ability, let goodness flow.
Becoming akin to your celestial grace,
In virtuous deeds, may I find a blessed place.
Daily Meditation
"Whoever knows God, does not fear God. Whoever does not know God fears God. Whoever knows none of the beings fears everyone; whoever knows all of them, fears none.”
—Hermes Trismegistus
Superstition to the ancients means excessive fear of the gods. We fear what we don’t understand. Every time we see someone condemn other religions and Gods as demon worship, we can be sure these people don’t truly know God. When we know God, we know there is nothing to fear.
Monthly Ascesis
Developing a practice of chanting prayers is a powerful and effective way to create stillness in our souls, allowing us to behold God's presence in our lives.
This month, begin chanting the short prayer below. Start with just a few repetitions, for example, 10-15. Then, gradually increase the number over the month. When you reach a higher number of chants, say 100-200 per day, your mind will begin to quiet down, and a sense of stillness in your mind and soul will increase. Following your chants, take a moment to rest in the newfound stillness and keep your mind clear of thoughts for as long as you can.
