Daily Prayer XII
Courage, valiant spirit, in shadows' midst,
In the face of fear, thy flame does persist.
Armor of fortitude, glistening bright,
In the crucible of challenge, forging might.
-
Oh, Virtue, stand firm on the precipice high,
Where challenges loom, and courage draws nigh.
Fortitude, a stalwart companion true,
In adversity's storm, thy strength shines through.
-
With a lion's heart and unwavering stride,
Courage and fortitude walk side by side.
Through trials and triumphs, their banners unfurl,
Guiding the brave in life's tumultuous swirl.
Daily Meditation
"When we discover in ourselves the causes for so much irregularity, we first make the hardship of what happens to us easier to bear through the correctness of our judgement, and then, steering our soul by the methods of sacred rites and right admonitions to a better harbour, we will wholly free ourselves from suffering.”
—Hierocles
We should always trust that our hardships are brought to us through divine providence, and we should not begrudge the Gods for any misfortunes in our lives. By doing this and purifying our souls through our devotion to the Gods and repentance for our sins, we can attain liberation.
Monthly Ascesis
Developing a practice of chanting prayers is a powerful and effective way to create stillness in our souls, allowing us to behold God's presence in our lives.
This month, begin chanting the short prayer below. Start with just a few repetitions, for example, 10-15. Then, gradually increase the number over the month. When you reach a higher number of chants, say 100-200 per day, your mind will begin to quiet down, and a sense of stillness in your mind and soul will increase. Following your chants, take a moment to rest in the newfound stillness and keep your mind clear of thoughts for as long as you can.
