Daily Prayer XV

Hail, King Jove, whose intellect divine does shine,  

Grace cascading upon gods and mortal line.  

First and last, in timeless majesty enthroned,  

Creator, ruler, with wisdom deeply honed.

Thy gaze encompasses realms, both near and far,  

Ruling over cosmos, each celestial star.  

Infinite and eternal, sovereign of all things,  

Jove, from thy throne, divine creation springs.

As the master architect, shaping fate's grand design,  

Thy wisdom's radiance, a beacon so divine.  

King Jove, in thee, the universe finds its sway,  

In thy eternal light, all beings bow and pray. 

Daily Meditation

"Whether God is a Mind or possessed of Mind, He has thoughts, and these are eternal and unchanging; and if this is the case, forms exist. ”

Alcinous equates the Platonic forms with the thoughts in the mind of God. The forms themselves are the eternal model of all natural things. These forms give shape and structure to the entire cosmos. They are the paradigm or blueprint of all things. In the same way a building cannot be made without a blueprint or initial idea, neither can the physical world exist without the forms. By the power of the forms in the mind of God, all things are structured by God’s divine providence.

Monthly Ascesis

Developing a practice of chanting prayers is a powerful and effective way to create stillness in our souls, allowing us to behold God's presence in our lives.

This month, begin chanting the short prayer below. Start with just a few repetitions, for example, 10-15. Then, gradually increase the number over the month. When you reach a higher number of chants, say 100-200 per day, your mind will begin to quiet down, and a sense of stillness in your mind and soul will increase. Following your chants, take a moment to rest in the newfound stillness and keep your mind clear of thoughts for as long as you can.
