Daily Prayer XVII
Hail, Bacchus, liberator of our captive souls,
Breaking chains that bind, releasing from cyclical tolls.
Thy revelry transcends earthly strife and birth's decree,
Purifier divine, setting our spirits forever free.
-
In thy ecstatic dance, the soul finds its release,
From the shackles of rebirth, you bring sweet peace.
Thou art the vine, the nectar of divine elation,
Bacchus, our guide to the realm of transformation.
-
Through the chalice of thy grace, impurities dissolve,
As the soul ascends, in thy mysteries we evolve.
Oh, Bacchus, in thy rapture, our essence refined,
The soul's salvation, in thy presence enshrined.
Daily Meditation
"The Creator is in everything. He does not dwell just in one thing, nor does He just create in one; He begets them all.”
—Hermes Trismegistus
God permeates all things. He is not separate from the world or his creations. God is capable of anything but cannot separate himself from you or any other soul. To do so would be to separate from a piece of himself. We live within the world made by God and his immortal children, the Gods. Their beauty and power radiate through all things. To enter into the philosophical life is to begin to recognize that God is within everything.
Monthly Ascesis
Developing a practice of chanting prayers is a powerful and effective way to create stillness in our souls, allowing us to behold God's presence in our lives.
This month, begin chanting the short prayer below. Start with just a few repetitions, for example, 10-15. Then, gradually increase the number over the month. When you reach a higher number of chants, say 100-200 per day, your mind will begin to quiet down, and a sense of stillness in your mind and soul will increase. Following your chants, take a moment to rest in the newfound stillness and keep your mind clear of thoughts for as long as you can.
